Just Added: Trail Dents des Midi, Europe’s Original Trail Race

Oct 23, 2014

We’ve just added a new trip to our lineup for summer 2015, and wanted to share the news!

Our new September Dents des Midi trip is something a bit different. The focal point is Europe’s oldest mountain race, the Trail Dents des Midi, which dates back over fifty years. The trip is self-guided… with a twist. Participants set their own dates, and can include other great trail running destinations, such as Grindelwald, Murren, Zermatt or Leukerbad. However, Run the Alp’s Doug Mayer will be on hand the week prior to Trail Dents des Midi, in Champéry. He looks forward to meeting participants each day, and providing trail running suggestions and guidance.

The Dents des Midi race takes place in the quiet alp village of Champéry, at the end of the valley in the French-speaking Valais Alps, not far from the border with France.  Trail runners have a wide range of options, from a two-day Trail Découverte trip with a partner that includes a night high on the range, to a two-person relay, or tackling the full, ultra-length challenge that includes 3,700 meters of climbing. Or, simply come and trail run, join the festivities of the event, and cheer on others!

September is a great time to be in the Alps. It’s a bit quieter, and the weather can be some of the best of the entire year. We look forward to seeing you there!

Look for the flag. You're likely to find cafe au lait, fresh bread and cheese. The Cabane Anthème, a favorite trail running stop above Champéry.
