It is not often that you start a race and end up finishing in a different country – sound intriguing? Well, the CollonTrek does just that! The race connects Place Moulin above Italy’s Aosta Valley, to one of Switzerland’s highest mountain villages, Arolla. Running along the border of Italy and Switzerland is the high mountain spine of the Pennine Alps mountain range, a range that is made up of many mountains over 4000m, so it goes without saying that this race takes you into some pretty mountainous terrain. You will be running on technical trails, across glaciers, a glacial moraine and passing through high mountain cols. There is, however, plenty of support along the route to ensure runner safety and to offer the usual alpine refreshment breaks.
