Matterhorn Cervino Xtrail

Date 07/06/2019 – 07/07/2019

Country Italy

Distance 55 km  27 km

Elevation 3400 m  1600 m

Description

The iconic Matterhorn mountain borders Italy and Switzerland and is known for its unique pyramidal shape – often seen on Swiss chocolate boxes. Whilst this famous mountain is normally viewed from Zermatt in Switzerland, Cervinia, on the other side in Italy, is also an impressive mountain town.

As well as the 27 and 55km races, there are two more: the vertical km ‘positive’ or uphill, and the vertical km ‘negative’, which, more unusually, is a downhill race. Or of course you could join them together for the complete up and down challenge!
