The Oxfam Wintertrail race travels 60km through France’s Abondance valley, in the Haute Savoie region, on the border with Switzerland. The race passes briefly through Morgins, Switzerland, a small village high on the Swiss-French border. In recent years, as many as 90 teams of four people have taken part. The Wintertrail begins at 08:15 Saturday morning, and has a time limit of 30 hours. Teams travel night and day, arriving at the Abondance Chapel before 2.15 pm, Sunday. This extraordinary mountain adventure serves as a major fundraiser for the international humanitarian organization Oxfam.
