Trail de Chateaux

After a frustrating 2020, the Trail des Chateaux are staying positive and after shifting their dates three times during the year have settled on May 1st to host the 3rd edition of the race . Starting in the town of Sion, the capital city in the Swiss Valais canton, the route takes runners up the south-facing side of the valley. After a steep start out of the town, the route follows the “bisses,” or traditional irrigation canals, of this region over some sections and climbs up through forest to a high point of 1612m. There is a steep descent from here, which will be avoided by rerouting if the course if it is too snowy and slippery. (There may be snow on the trail at this time of the year, so come prepared!) There are three aid stations that offer soup, hot chocolate, tea, fruit, salty biscuits and cereal bars. The race finish is back in Sion.
