Description
Just north of Grenoble on the western edge of the French Alps, this series of races takes place in the Chartreuse Natural Park. The 62km, 42km and 24km distances start on the Sunday morning, all following single track routes predominantly in forests. The courses pass the Fort du Saint-Eynard and the prominent Chamechaude, the highest peak in the Chartreuse range. There are great views of the Belledonne and Mont Blanc massifs.
This series of races includes one of the least steep vertical kilometer format races in the Alps, taking 5km to climb 1000m. This race takes place on the Saturday evening and is entirely on single track.
It’s possible to enter the vertical kilometer race plus the 23km or 42km as a combination. Otherwise, you can enter the 23km and 42km as a “duo,” and run the course with a friend.
All the races are billed as self-sufficient, meaning there are water points but no aid stations. Poles are not permitted in an effort to minimize erosion in this Natural Reserve.
NB: We have estimated the 2021 dates based on last year’s dates. We have contacted the race organisers but not heard back yet. We’ll update as soon as we have more info. RTA makes every effort to keep this page up to date.
