Rendez-Vous with Run the Alps across the US

Posted on

Salut!

Run the Alps is going on tour!

Run the Alps is in the U.S., and we just might be coming to a town near you.

Here’s the schedule!

Bay Area, California
Location: Tamalpie, 477 Miller Avenue, Mill Valley CA
Date: Saturday, November 24, 5:30 pm (After the Quad Dipsea, of course!)
What’s Happening: Join Run the Alps founder Doug Mayer and ambassadors and Mill Valley residents Jerry Edelbrock and Jeri Howland. We’ll show some short videos from this summer, talk about what’s coming up for next year, but mostly we’ll just hang out and catch up!

Boulder, Colorado
Location: The Westend Plaza, 1035 Pearl Street, 4th Floor
Date: November 29, 6:00 pm
What’s Happening: We’ll be joined by Transrockies winners Katie Schide and Germain Grangier, who will share their new One&1 event with us. (Katie was featured in this month’s Trail Runner magazine, and both Germain and Katie had top finishes in the CCC trail race in Chamonix last summer!) After, let’s go to dinner in town!

Bellingham, Washington
Location: Fairhaven Runners, 1209 11th Street, Historic Fairhaven
Date: December 6, 7:15 pm
What’s Happening: Join Patagonia trail runner Krissy Moehl for an informal evening of short film and conversation about the trail running scene in the Alps, from Chamonix, France to Grindelwald, Switzerland. Krissy is a four-time finisher and two-time UTMB winner, Coach, Race Director and Author.

Portland, Oregon
Location: Basecamp Brewing Company, 930 SE Oak Street
Date: December 8th, 7-9 pm
What’s Happening: Join our friends from Runners of the Wild and Trail Butter, for an evening of Alps trail running, great beer, and plenty of Trail Butter, too! Runner of the Wild member Chad Stashek and ROTW Co-Founder Jordan Carey will show images and talk about his Runners of the Wild/Run the Alps tour this past summer. Trail Butter Co-Founder Jeff Boggess will be on hand, too, to share news  from Run the Alps’ favorite fueling company.

Why all the travel?

It’s a great time of year for us, that’s why! Come mid-November, we close up our Run the Alps office in Chamonix, and head for the U.S. The holidays bring us home to the US, and it’s a great opportunity to see old friends, catch up on the news, and – of course! – talk trail running in the Alps.

We’ll have three short Run the Alps videos to share, created by Run the Alps friend Katie Moore. Based in Chamonix, Katie has produced films for Kilian Jornet and Seb Montaz, among others.

As always, we’ve loaded up our Run the Alps Patagonia duffel with goodies from the Alps. Be ready for some treats!

On the Haute Route. (We might have had a little bit of fun this summer!)

Oh – and we’ll have other news to share, too! 2019 will feature some special trips with guest runners, new locations (Pssst: Dolomites!), and new concepts. (Trail running the great cafes of the Alps or a special UTMB trip with Krissy Moehl, anyone?)

When I look back on 2018, I catch myself smiling. It was such a fun season for Run the Alps, with great memories from the Tour du Mont-Blanc, the Haute Route, Champéry’s DDM Trail Race, and so many memorable conversations over dinner, from Turtmanhutte (above) to Chamonix. (Dinner at Bizes, anyone?)

I look forward to seeing you all, and capping off the year with more great times. As always, drop me a note if you have questions!

Happy trail running,

Doug
