177 K Carnica Ultra Trail

The 177 K – Carnica Ultra Trail (CUT) takes place in north-eastern Italy, close to the border with Austria. It follows the path of the Traversata Carnica or Karnishe Hohenweg, known as trail 403. Every other year, the course changes direction, so for 2024, the course will start in Tarvisio and arrive in San Candido.

The race is over a distance of 195km with approximately 12,235 meters of height gain and is completed in 4 stages. There is a maximum time of 12 hours per stage, and at the end of each day runners stay in base camps set up by the organization.

Stage 1: From Tarvisio to Passo Pramollo – 49.0 km, 3,156 m

Stage 2: From Passo Pramollo to Collina di Forni Avoltri – 54.0 km, 3,346 m

Stage 3: From Collina di Forni Avoltri to Val Visdende  – 45.0 km, 2,911 m

Stage 4: From Val Visdende to San Candido – 47.0 km, 2,822 m

The organization has also added a shorter version of the four-stage race called the 120k CUT, which is 137 km and 7,795 meters of elevation gain.

Neither race has a competitive character and the registration fee is donated to the charity “Idee di corsa” which enables sports activities for children with physical or cognitive disabilities or children belonging to families in temporary financial difficulty through sports scholarships.
