Montreux Trail Festival
The Montreux Trail Festival is a week-long trail festival taking place in the Swiss Alps in the canton of Vaud, with its base camp at the famous city of Montreux, on the shores of Lake Geneva.
The festival restructured their routes and now has 6 main races: Crossing Switzerland (390km, 24000m), Crossing Alps (100 miles, 9990m), Crossing Highlands (110km, 5440m), Crossing Sarina (70km,, 3800m), Crossing Riviera (32km, 1900m), and a fun night race called Freddie’s Night (15km, 950m), a race in memory of Queen singer Freddy Mercury, who loved Montreux, and played at the famed Montreux Jazz Festival. “Bring your costumes or your mustaches, Freddie is waiting for a night of fun and madness that will end late at night in the bars of Montreux!,” say the race organizers.
Finally, Montreux offers a family relay race, MXFAMILY (1 km + 31 km with 1900 meters of climbing), and a separate race for children, MXKids 2km kids. This event offers, “An atmosphere of sports, music and culinary delights, whether you are a runner or a spectator.”
