Wildstrubel
Wildstrubel is one of the new races that is part of the UTMB World Series. All of the Wildstrubel races finish in the mountain town of Crans-Montana, Switzerland. This town, high above the Rhône valley, is best known as an exclusive ski resort but has loads to offer after the snow has retreated. Over the past few years the locals have been developing the trail running infrastructure in the area with signed courses and trail running maps, and the region is quickly becoming a trail running hotspot.
The race has 5 distances: 10km, 26km, 53km, 70km, and 113km. Both the 26km and 53km are point-to-point races. The 26km starts in Leukerbad and the 53km in Adelboden, both mountain towns high in the Berner Oberland. The 113km starts and finishes in Crans-Montana and takes on the steep trail up and over the Gemmipass. (Read more about the run up to Gemmipass, one of the most remarkable short trail running routes in the Alps, in this Run the Alps story.)
