Charlotte “Fluff” Le Flufy
I grew up in the UK and always thought mountains were a “winter thing.” When my job moved me to Geneva, Switzerland, I realized how wrong I was. Now I see the mountains as an “all year thing.” I love a huge summer day out, as much as I love a powder day with friends, and the quietness of the interseasons.
I spent ten years working for a huge FMCG corporation, first in London and then in Geneva. The last five of them I commuted nearly every weekend from the city to the mountains, before deciding a quieter life was better for me. Now, I live in a small French village just outside Chamonix. Population 1000. There’s a bakery, village shop, and post office (open just four half-days a week). In the spring, I wake up to the sound of birds, and in the summer, I fall asleep to the sound of cowbells.
I go outside!
I have a twin sister who also used to live the city life. About the same time I headed to the mountains, she upped sticks, moved to the beach in Portugal and now surfs whenever the waves are good.
There are too many! I love the Balcon Nord – starting from the Grepon carpark, up to the Midi mid-station, along the Balcon, up to Signal and then back down past Montenvers. The views along the Balcon and when you reach the top of the climb to Signal will never get old. (I also love our home trails around Servoz – especially because you can stop for a swim in the rivers en route home).
