A bit about me
I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the proofreading job, including having plenty of spare time, being detail-oriented to the point of neurosis (and beyond), and being the brother-in-law of Run the Alps founder Doug Mayer.
My other life
I am a retired Boston lawyer. My wife, Doug’s sister Ellen, is a children’s book author. She has not written a book about trail running in the Alps but it is probably only a matter of time. We have two children, both of whom are married and live near us. Each has children, so we are delighted to have regular visits with our granddaughter (born 2016) and grandsons (born 2021 and 2024).
In my free time
When I am not taking care of grandchildren or proofreading for the site, I am an amateur banjo and bass player in two groups that play informally at farmers markets and the like, the Incorrigible String Band. Our older grandchildren sing songs with me. When Ellen has a book reading at a school or library, I sometimes come along to lead songs– we call this our Books & Banjo session. I also cook, bake, read, bicycle, and enjoy volunteering two mornings a week in the music program at a local elementary school.
Fun fact
I have an identical twin brother who lives in Takoma Park, MD. He is an antitrust economist for the US Dept. of Justice. Like me, he has an accomplished wife and children.
Favorite Alp trail run
It’s so hard to pick just one! I don’t run, but I do hike. I guess my favorite hike would be the one from The Hub Chamonix to Big Mountain Brewing Company.
