About the race

Starting in the Swiss village of Orsieres, not too far from the famous ski resort of Verbier in the french speaking portion of Switzerland’s Valais canton, the OCC takes runners on a 56km course back to Chamonix. The race initially climbs up to the small resort of Champex-Lac, the second “C” in the race’s name, before turning the corner and winding its way back to Chamonix on beautiful mountain trails, high above the Rhône Valley. Much of the route follows the famous Tour du Mont-Blanc.

There is 3500m of vertical gain on this course and has its fair share of grueling climbs. A particular highlight is the climb up to the Col de Balme, on the Swiss-French border. From here you can see all the way down the valley to the finish line in Chamonix…although you’ll have to do one more climb before you get there!
