Fact: We’re kind of picky about our beanies. Some are not thick enough, some are too thick. Some of us (no names, please) have big heads and find some big-name outdoors brands (no names, please) to have, well, not enough volume under the dome. Our friend Mimmi Kotka, up the street from our Run the Alps base in Montroc, pointed us to Anne Weir, who runs Loomi, a boutique UK merino shop that designs and tests their products in the rugged weather of the Scottish Highlands. We love her work, and we love this new beanie. It’s thick enough to keep you cozy on fall days, whether you’re grinding your way through a vertical kilometer high above Courmayeur, Italy, or skinning above Carbondale, Colorado. And it’s thin enough to stow quickly in a trail running vest front pocket. The Run the Alps logo is modestly sized on the brim, in case you cross paths with any other of our friends on the trail.
